Guidelines
there is no assigned topic for this contest
poetry, fiction, and nonfiction (personal essay/ creative nonfiction) are all accepted
please do not put your name anywhere on the piece (we will ask for this on the submission form)
submissions to the Annual Writing Contest and Cultural Heritage Writing Award are automatically considered for publication in Trailblazer's Issue I
if you have already submitted a piece to the Annual Writing Contest and Cultural Heritage Writing Award, please do not submit the same piece for consideration in our first Issue
however, there is a special prize: the Annual Cultural Heritage Writing Award, which is only applicable for high school writers who have submitted a piece of work on native and indigenous culture and heritage
there will be one winner and two runner-ups for each category in the Annual Writing Contest (poetry, fiction, & nonfiction)
there will only be one winner for the Annual Cultural Heritage Writing Award
a person can only submit one work at a time/ previously published pieces are acceptable, as long as they are eligible for republication/ simultaneous submission is allowed
if your work is about native culture and heritage, you will be judged for both the Annual Writing Contest and Cultural Heritage Writing Award

size: 12
margins: 1 inch at the top & bottom/ 1.25 inch at the left & right
maximum word count: 4000
there is no minimum word count
Guidelines for Poetry:
font: Times New Roman
size: 12
margins: 1 inch at the top & bottom/ 1.25 inch at the left & right
there is no maximum/minimum word count for poetry
